Job Title: Teaching Assistant
SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary – Tower Hamlets
From £100 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | September Start
Axcis are working with a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Tower Hamlets who are seeking a proactive and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs, with a particular focus on autism, communication difficulties and pupils who require additional support to access learning within the mainstream classroom.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a SEND TA who enjoys being part of a busy, supportive school community where inclusion is genuinely embedded. The school has a strong SENCO, experienced teaching team and a clear focus on helping every child feel understood, supported and confident. Located in East London, the school benefits from excellent transport links via Tube, DLR, Overground and local bus routes.
About the Role
You will be supporting pupils across the primary phase, both in class and through targeted support. This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships quickly, use initiative and adapt their approach depending on the needs of each child.
You will:
• Support pupils with autism, speech and language needs and additional learning difficulties
• Work 1:1 and in small groups to help pupils access classroom learning
• Use visual supports, structured routines and calm communication strategies
• Support emotional regulation, transitions and positive behaviour
• Assist the class teacher with differentiated resources and learning activities
• Work closely with the SENCO and wider staff team to support EHCP outcomes
What We’re Looking For
• Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school or childcare setting
• Understanding of autism, communication needs or sensory regulation strategies
• Calm, patient and nurturing approach
• Ability to use initiative and respond to pupils’ needs throughout the day
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Full-time availability from September
