SEND Teaching Assistant – Junior School – Dagenham From £100 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | September Start Axcis are working with a friendly and inclusive junior school in Dagenham who are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who enjoys supporting pupils in Key Stage 2 and can provide calm, consistent support to children with additional needs. The school has a strong community feel and a supportive staff team who work closely together to help pupils feel confident, included and ready to learn. The role would suit someone who is patient, proactive and confident helping children who may need support with communication, emotional regulation, attention, confidence or accessing classroom learning. The school is based in Dagenham and is accessible by local bus routes, with links from Barking, Romford, Ilford and surrounding East London areas. Parking may also be available for staff travelling by car. About the Role As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across Key Stage 2 who require additional help in the classroom. This may include pupils with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, learning difficulties, SEMH needs or social communication difficulties. You will: • Support pupils with SEND within mainstream classroom settings • Work 1:1 and with small groups to help children access learning • Use visual supports, structure and positive reinforcement strategies • Support pupils with focus, confidence, communication and emotional regulation • Assist the class teacher with adapted resources and classroom routines • Encourage independence, positive behaviour and social interaction • Work closely with the SENCO and teaching team to follow individual support plans What We’re Looking For • Previous experience supporting children with SEND or additional needs • Experience with autism, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language needs would be beneficial • A calm, patient and encouraging approach • Strong communication and teamwork skills • Confidence supporting pupils both academically and emotionally • Good classroom awareness and ability to use initiative • Full-time availability and commitment to a long-term role from September This is a rewarding opportunity for a SEND Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a supportive Dagenham junior school.
