Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Axcis education are looking for a full-time teaching assistant to work in an alternative school in Exeter supporting children in care. These children are highly vulnerable and diagnosed with attachment disorder. Your job role is to build trusting relationships, build self-esteem and confidence in the students and assist them to engage in class and regulate their emotions and be a mentor for them throughout their day to day at school. The school is child led, each classroom is full of books, games and toys. The teachers lead classes in a nurturing and relaxed approach on a 1-1 basis. All pupils are assisted by a 1-1 teaching assistant, however you rotate and work with all children to avoid pupils building unhealthy attachment needs due to their backgrounds. The school day is built up with lesson, games and community outreach programmes, where you and a child with the team will go out on trips. As a successful teaching assistant with this school you must also be a driver. This role is working full-time, Monday to Friday from 8:30 - 3:00 with a daily rate of £96 per day. You will get 2 weeks of training from the school, to prepare you before you start.
