Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Experienced Teaching Assistant – Chorley and Surrounding Areas
£95 per day | September start | Full-time and part-time | Long-term opportunities
Axcis Education is recruiting experienced Teaching Assistants for primary, secondary and specialist schools in Chorley and the surrounding areas. We have a range of Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEND Teaching Assistant and education support roles available from September.
We are looking for experienced Teaching Assistants who are passionate about supporting children and young people and who can provide consistent, reliable support within a school environment.
A number of our schools support pupils with special educational needs (SEND), complex needs, additional needs and behaviours that challenge. Experience working with SEND is highly desirable, particularly for roles within specialist and SEN schools.
The role may include:
• Supporting pupils in primary or secondary school settings
• Working with pupils with SEND, additional needs and complex needs
• Providing 1:1, small-group and classroom support
• Supporting pupils with learning, communication, emotional development and independence
• Supporting children and young people with challenging behaviour
• Working alongside teachers, SENCOs, Teaching Assistants and the wider school team
• Supporting positive behaviour and maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment
• Helping pupils access the curriculum and participate in school activities
• Adapting support to meet individual pupil needs
• Building positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Promoting positive educational and personal outcomes
We are looking for candidates with:
• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEND Teaching Assistant or Education Support Worker
• Experience working with children or young people in a school, education or care setting
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND is highly desirable
• Experience working with complex needs or challenging behaviour is beneficial
• Experience supporting either primary or secondary-aged pupils
• A genuine passion for working with children and young people
• A patient, proactive, resilient and positive approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to remain calm and consistent when supporting pupils with additional needs
• The ability to reliably commute to Chorley and surrounding areas
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one. Axcis Education can support you with the DBS application process
Desirable qualifications and experience:
• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
• Level 2 or Level 3 Childcare qualification
• Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification
• CACHE, NCFE or equivalent education or childcare qualification
• Early Years Practitioner or Early Years Educator qualification
• Previous experience working in a nursery, early years setting or childcare environment
• Additional training or qualifications relating to SEND, autism, learning disabilities or behaviour support
For overseas candidates, where SEND experience is required, you must have at least 3 months' experience working with SEND in the UK.

The typical working day is between 8:30am and 4:00pm, depending on the school and role.
