Teaching Assistant - Autism Support Poole | Full Time | Term Time Only | September 2026 Start £93-£100 per day (depending on experience) Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Autism Support Worker, or Behaviour Mentor looking to make a real difference in a specialist SEND setting? Axcis Education is recruiting on behalf of a highly respected SEND school in Poole supporting primary-aged pupils with Autism (ASC) and EHCPs. The school uses a therapeutic PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy) approach to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes. The Role Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism and additional needs Support emotional regulation using therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches Build positive relationships that promote confidence and engagement Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour calmly and effectively Work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to deliver personalised support Encourage pupils to achieve their individual learning and development goals About You Experience supporting children or young people with Autism, SEND, SEMH, or challenging behaviour Background as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Support Worker, or similar Calm, patient, resilient, and able to build trusting relationships Strong understanding of behaviour support and de-escalation strategies GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths (essential) Relevant qualifications or degree-level education desirable What the School Offers Supportive leadership and experienced staff team Ongoing SEND and Autism-focused training Excellent professional development opportunities A welcoming, well-resourced specialist environment Potential for long-term or permanent opportunities This is a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with Autism and helping them reach their full potential.
