Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant Location: Kingston, London Employment Type: Full-time (Monday?–?Friday, 08:00?–?15:30) Salary: Paid to scale Role Overview We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support the delivery of high-quality, inclusive education for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in a vibrant Kingston school. Working closely with class teachers and senior staff, you will help create a nurturing learning environment that promotes academic progress, independence, and wellbeing. Key Responsibilities • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to SEND pupils, implementing individual education plans (IEPs). • Assist teachers with lesson preparation, resource adaptation, and classroom management. • Monitor and record pupil progress, communicating observations to teachers and parents. • Facilitate inclusion by promoting positive behaviour strategies and fostering peer interaction. • Support the preparation of sensory-friendly spaces and the use of assistive technology. • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and multidisciplinary team discussions. Essential Qualifications & Experience • Level 3 Diploma/Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent. • Experience working with children who have SEND, preferably in a mainstream setting. • Strong understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and safeguarding procedures. • Excellent communication, patience, and a proactive attitude toward continuous professional development. Desirable • Knowledge of SEND legislation (e.g., SEND Code of Practice). • First Aid or Safeguarding training.
