Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Location: PR1, England Contract Type: Full Time, Multiple Roles available Job Description: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing tailored support to pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities in a mainstream school setting. The ideal applicant will have a passion for inclusive education and a commitment to helping every child reach their full potential. Key Responsibilities: - Work closely with the lead teacher to plan and deliver individualised support to students with SEND. - Foster a nurturing and stimulating environment that accommodates the various learning styles and needs of students with SEND. - Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor students' progress against set targets. - Employ effective behaviour management strategies to ensure a positive and safe learning environment. - Support students with their academic work across different subjects and levels. - Utilise a range of resources to facilitate communication and engagement for students with SEND, including assistive technologies. - Encourage independent learning and confidence-building among students with SEND. - Provide feedback to teachers on students’ progress and contribute to the evaluation of their development. - Assist with the personal care needs of students when required, maintaining their dignity and respect. - Liaise with parents, caregivers, and external agencies to support the overall well-being and progress of students with SEND. Essential Skills and Qualifications: - NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or a related field. - Proven experience working as a teaching assistant, ideally within a SEND setting. - An understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and experience with IEPs. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building rapport with students, staff, and parents. - Patience, resilience, and adaptability when working with children with varied and complex needs. - The ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently when required. Desirable Attributes: - Additional qualifications or training specific to SEND, such as Makaton or PECs. - Experience with specific learning difficulties such as ASD, ADHD, or dyslexia.
