An Alternative Provision in Wakefield are seeking full-time SEMH Teaching Assistants to join their Primary team!
The school caters for a diverse group of learners aged 4 to 11 who are at risk of permanent exclusion or have been permanently excluded from mainstream school. A high percentage of students have social, emotional, mental health needs and complex communication and interaction difficulties.
Responsibilities:
Provide support within the classroom, under the direction of the class teacher to support all pupils to make progress across all curriculum areas.
Assist with the delivery of learning based interventions to support pupils specific learning and social, emotional and mental health needs.
Use effective strategies to support and promote positive pupil behaviour including restorative practice, de-escalation and positive handling
With support, contribute to plans, reviews and evaluations of pupils
Requirements:
Experience of working with children or young people, ideally in an education setting.
Understanding and knowledge of strategies to support social, emotional and mental health development
Experience of supporting pupils’ basic skills in English and Maths
Enthusiasm and dedication to work with, support and improve outcomes for young people
Emotional resilience in working with pupils with exhibit challenging behaviour, up to date Team Teach Training would be highly advantageous
