Axcis are currently seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for working 1:1 with students with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)? We have an exciting job opportunity for you in Hillingdon! A fantastic SEND school in Hillingdon is seeking a dedicated teaching assistant to join their compassionate and supportive team. The school is well-established, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment. Working Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM, this role is perfect for those seeking a fulfilling, full-time position. The classroom consists of around 8 pupils of various primary ages, and the role will be predominantly assisting a child on a 1:1 basis. As a 1:1 teaching assistant, your main responsibilities will include: -Supporting a student with PMLD in daily tasks, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being. -Assisting communication using specialised tools and techniques, including Makaton or PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System). -Supporting the student during therapy sessions, both in and out of the classroom. -Creating a safe, nurturing learning environment to foster independence and social interaction. -Monitoring the student's progress and providing feedback to the teacher and SENCO. -Personal care may be required Requirements: -Proven experience working with PMLD students in an educational setting. -Enhanced DBS on the update service. -Compassion, patience, and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students. -Knowledge of relevant communication aids and techniques. -Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and professionals. -A commitment to inclusion and the well-being of students with special educational needs.
