1:1 Teaching Assistant Location: Corfe Castle, Dorset Contract: Part-time Pay: £89 – £95 per day Start Date: ASAP ________________________________________ The role We are seeking a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a well-regarded mainstream primary school in Corfe Castle, Dorset. This part-time role is based within Key Stage 2 and will involve providing high-quality one-to-one support for a pupil with SEN. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting both the academic progress and emotional development of the pupil, enabling them to achieve their full potential within an inclusive learning environment. Key responsibilities: • Provide targeted support to pupils with a range of SEN • Work collaboratively with the class teacher to deliver and adapt individual learning and support plans • Create a safe, nurturing, and supportive classroom environment that promotes engagement and learning • Employ a range of strategies to support communication, learning, and behaviour management • Encourage positive social interaction and participation in class and school activities • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress, achievements, and areas for development • Apply de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies sensitively and effectively • Assist in the preparation of learning resources tailored to individual needs • Engage in professional development opportunities, particularly in SEN approaches. ________________________________________ Candidate requirements • Previous experience of working with children in an educational setting, ideally with SEN • A thorough understanding of ASC • Relevant qualifications (NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents • Patience, empathy, and resilience, with a strong commitment to supporting children’s wellbeing and progress • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team • An Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service (or willingness to obtain one) ________________________________________ Why apply?
