Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated ADHD Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in a vibrant primary/secondary setting in Kingston. Working closely with classroom teachers, you will implement tailored strategies that promote concentration, self-regulation, and academic progress while fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver one-to-one and small-group support aligned with each pupil’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
• Apply evidence-based behaviour-management techniques and organisational tools.
• Assist teachers with lesson preparation, adaptations, and differentiated instruction.
• Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
• Facilitate classroom transitions, breaks, and sensory activities to maintain optimal focus.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and multidisciplinary reviews.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
• Level 3 (or higher) qualification in Special Educational Needs, Childcare, or related field.
• Experience supporting children with ADHD or other neurodevelopmental conditions.
• Strong understanding of ADHD-specific interventions, classroom accommodations, and safeguarding procedures.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgement.
Desirable
• First Aid/Paediatric CPR certification.
• Training in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or Cognitive-Behavioural strategies.
