Job Title: ASD Teaching Assistant Location: Salford Start date: ASAP Hours: Full time - 8.30am - 3.30pm Day Rate: Starting at £90 per day, subject to experience and qualifications Axcis has an amazing opportunity to join us as a Teaching Assistant in a ASD specialist provision, supporting students aged 11-19. This school is a welcoming, joyful place where pupils flourish. They are cared for by staff who know and respond to pupils’ special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) well. This helps pupils, and students in the sixth form, to feel understood, nurtured and safe. To be successful in the role you’ll need: • Experience within a care or education workplace setting (not essential but desirable) • First-hand experience of either complex needs, learning disabilities, sensory impairments or autistic spectrum conditions. • Experience of supporting either children or young people with challenging behaviour • Enthusiasm, determination and resilience • Empathy and self-awareness • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, and colleagues Teaching Assistant Role Outline: • Assisting the teacher with planning and preparation of resources and programmes including differentiation for the individual needs of learners in the class/group • Actively support all students in the full range of curriculum activities across the college/school including but not limited to • Working with students with Autism, multi-sensory impairments, physical disabilities, severe learning difficulties and those with non-verbal communication needs, to enhance their communication skills, social skills, ability to think flexibly and to problem-solve. • Supporting students with challenging behaviour, personal care and supporting those with physical disabilities. Some students may require support from mobility aids and disability aids including hoists and wheelchairs. NB: Candidates must have a *CHILD & ADULT DBS* or be willing to pay for one with Axcis.
