Teaching Assistant for Autistic Student Position: Teaching Assistant Location: Primary School Contract Type: full time Hours: 8.30 am -16.00 pm Salary: £85 day rate About Us: Axcis is working to recruit a teaching assistant to join a primary School in Croydon. They are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled teaching assistant to support students with autism. In this role, you will assist the classroom teacher in delivering tailored educational programs that focus on both academic and social development. Your support will be essential in helping the student develop communication skills and navigate social interactions. Key Responsibilities: • Assist the classroom teacher in delivering personalised educational programs. • Working 1:1 with students • Support the student in developing communication and social skills, using appropriate strategies and tools. • Implement individualised learning strategies and behaviour management techniques to help the student navigate the classroom environment. • Create a safe and positive learning environment that encourages participation and engagement. • Collaborate with other staff, teachers, and families to ensure holistic support for the student’s needs. Requirements: • Experience working with students on the autism spectrum is preferred. • Experience of PECs or Makaton is also preferred • Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and associated learning needs. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Patience, empathy, and adaptability in diverse situations.
