Job Title: Assistant Headteacher (SEND School)
Location: DA15, South East London/Kent Border
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Essential Requirements: QTS and SEND leadership experience
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious Assistant Headteacher to join a well-established and highly regarded SEND school in DA15.
The school is seeking an inspirational leader with a strong background in special education and a proven ability to drive improvement, develop staff, and secure excellent outcomes for pupils with additional needs.
This is a key leadership position, offering the opportunity to work closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to help shape the strategic direction of the school while maintaining high standards of teaching, learning, behaviour and safeguarding.
The successful candidate will:
• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Have substantial experience working within a SEND setting
• Demonstrate successful leadership and management experience
• Have a strong understanding of curriculum, assessment and behaviour within SEND education
• Be passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with additional needs
• Have excellent communication, coaching and staff development skills
• Be committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice
Key responsibilities include:
• Supporting the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the school
• Leading a key stage, pathway or cluster of classes
• Acting as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)
• Line managing teachers, HLTAs and support staff
• Leading performance management, coaching and professional development
• Overseeing curriculum delivery, behaviour and assessment practices
• Chairing Annual Reviews and supporting EHCP processes
• Building positive relationships with families, external agencies and partner schools
• Taking strategic responsibility for key areas including Annual Reviews & EHCPs, Assessment & Accreditation, Post-16 Provision, Enrichment, or Student Voice
