We are seeking a passionate and experienced Behaviour Specialist to join an SEMH school located in Salisbury, Wiltshire. The successful candidate will be dedicated to making a significant impact on the lives of children with complex behavioural needs and to supporting both pupils and staff in creating a positive and nurturing learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively across the SEMH school, employing your expertise to support the management of high-level behavioural issues.
- Provide hands-on intervention and support for students displaying challenging behaviours, ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals in the school.
- Coach and mentor staff in relational practice, guiding them in positive behaviour management strategies and helping to foster a supportive school culture.
- Develop and implement Individual Behaviour Plans in collaboration with educational staff and interdisciplinary teams.
- Use evidence-based practices and positive behaviour support frameworks to promote student engagement and reduce incidents of challenging behaviour.
- Lead training sessions and workshops for staff to enhance their understanding and skills in managing complex behaviours.
- Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a consistent and cohesive approach to behaviour management.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of behaviour interventions and make necessary adjustments to ensure continued student progress.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant experience working with children and young people with behavioural, social, and emotional difficulties within an educational setting.
- BILD accredited training, or equivalent certification, in positive behaviour support or behaviour analysis.
- Strong understanding of SEMH needs and the ability to build rapport with young people and colleagues.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
Desirables:
- Additional qualifications or professional development in special education, child psychology, or behavioural therapy.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
