About the Role:
Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential? Axcis education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join our agency and work in a dynamic high school setting with students who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and display challenging behaviours.
As a behaviour support assistant, you will work closely with teachers, school staff, and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. You will provide tailored support to students, helping them to manage their behaviour, develop social skills, and access education in a way that best meets their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work one-on-one and in small groups with students with SEMH needs to manage challenging behaviour and improve emotional regulation.
• Implement strategies and interventions to promote positive behaviour and enhance student wellbeing.
• Support teachers in managing classroom behaviour, aiding to maintain a calm and productive learning environment.
• Build trusted relationships with students, encouraging their personal development and academic progress.
• Provide pastoral support, including mentoring, to help students build confidence and self-esteem.
• Assist with risk assessments, behaviour plans, and report observations on student progress to school staff and agency managers.
Key Requirements:
• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or other additional needs.
• A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to dealing with challenging behaviour.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
• The ability to adapt and respond flexibly to changing situations.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Relevant qualifications or training in education, psychology, or behaviour management are desirable but not essential.
