Job Title: BSL Trained/Experienced Teaching Assistant
We are looking for a skilled and dedicated British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant to join a supportive college environment in Harrow. This temporary position is ideal for someone with a passion for supporting students with hearing impairments who rely on BSL for communication.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-to-one support to a student with a hearing impairment, using BSL to facilitate effective communication and understanding.
• Assist the student in both academic and social settings, ensuring they have full access to learning and college life.
• Collaborate closely with teachers and other support staff to tailor the student’s experience to meet their individual needs.
• Support the student in developing their independence and confidence within the college environment.
Requirements:
• Formal BSL training is essential, with at least 12 months of hands-on BSL work experience that can be referenced.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build a positive rapport with the student.
• An empathetic, patient, and adaptable approach, with the ability to manage the unique needs of students with hearing impairments.
• Experience in an educational setting, ideally with further education (FE) students, is preferred.
Role Details:
• Location: Harrow
• Working hours: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday (Term-time only)
• Daily pay rate: £100 per day
