About the Role
We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with a strong background in Chemistry to support a secondary school pupil within the classroom. The role will involve academic and practical support, particularly within Chemistry and Biology lessons, helping the student to access the curriculum effectively.
The pupil has physical needs but is academically able. Support will mainly involve scribing, practical assistance in lessons, and general classroom support to ensure they can fully participate in learning activities.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 classroom support for a pupil in Chemistry and Biology lessons
Assist with scribing and practical tasks during lessons and laboratory activities
Support the pupil in accessing lesson materials and completing work
Work alongside teaching staff to ensure the pupil’s needs are met
Provide additional support in core subjects (English, Maths, and Science) when required
Occasionally support small group interventions in core subjects
About You
A degree in Chemistry or a strong science background is highly desirable
Experience working with secondary-aged pupils is beneficial
Understanding or experience supporting students with additional or physical needs is desirable
Strong communication and organisational skills
Patient, supportive, and able to work collaboratively with teaching staff
