Job Title: Cover Supervisor
SEN Cover Supervisor – New SEN Unit
Atherton | Axcis Education | £95+ per day
Axcis Education is recruiting for confident and experienced Cover Supervisors to support the launch of a new SEN unit within a secondary school in Atherton.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a developing specialist provision, working with a small group of pupils with additional needs. The school has a strong focus on inclusion, high expectations and providing pupils with SEND access to an engaging and ambitious curriculum.
The role
You will lead lessons for a small group of pupils within the SEN unit, delivering prepared lesson materials and creating a calm, structured and positive learning environment.
You will:
• Deliver prepared lesson materials confidently and effectively.
• Manage classroom behaviour and maintain clear boundaries.
• Support pupils with a range of special educational needs.
• Adapt activities and explanations to help pupils access learning.
• Build positive relationships and encourage engagement.
• Promote independence, confidence and positive attitudes towards learning.
• Work closely with the SEN team and wider school staff.
Essential experience and requirements:
• Experience delivering lesson material to children is essential.
• Experience managing class behaviour is essential.
• Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN setting.
• Confidence leading a classroom or small group independently.
• The ability to remain calm, consistent and professional when managing challenging behaviour.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A proactive and flexible approach to supporting pupils with SEND.
• Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a wider team.
This role would suit an experienced Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor, youth worker or similar education professional who has the confidence to lead learning and manage behaviour independently.
