Job Title: Education Enabler/Learning Mentor
Axcis is offering an exciting opportunity in Plymouth at a unique SEND college that provides specialised support for young people aged 16–25 diagnosed with learning difficulties, Autism, sensory or speech impairments, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. What sets this college apart is its innovative approach, working not only within educational hubs but also actively engaging students in the community, providing a more holistic and practical learning experience.
The role involves 1-1 student support and enabling, where you will help students achieve their individual goals by planning person-centred material. You’ll be following a curriculum that includes Maths and English, which the college designs specifically for you to teach and adapt in your own style. A key part of the role is working with the student within the community, so safeguarding, risk assessment, and behaviour management are vital skills for ensuring a safe and productive environment.
The ideal candidate for this role would come from an educational, support worker, or enabler background, with a good understanding of the vulnerabilities of young people with SEND. However, those with a passion for helping others and the right attitude are encouraged to apply, even if they don’t have extensive experience.
One of the perks of the role is that the college covers all work-related expenses and are paid on a monthly basis. While being a driver is desirable, it’s not essential, but if you drive, you must secure business insurance. The position can be either 4 or 5 days per week, with working hours from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and a competitive daily rate of £85- £95. The role offers an immediate start.
