Job Title: Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties Teaching assistant - Full-time - Secondary
Axcis Education is seeking an empathetic and resilient individual for the position of Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties Teaching Assistant. This role involves working closely with secondary school students in Sutton Coldfield. As an integral member of the educational support team, you will provide assistance to students experiencing a wide range of emotional and behavioural challenges, the school is committed to supporting students and staff to their full potential. Key Responsibilities: - Utilize a variety of strategies and approaches tailored to the individual students' needs to promote a positive learning environment and encourage engagement with the curriculum. - Provide one-to-one support, mentoring, and guidance to students during classroom activities, breaks, and potentially outside of school hours if required. - Continuously assess and monitor the progress of students, identifying any additional needs and modifying support strategies accordingly. - Establish and maintain constructive relationships with students, acting as a positive role model and fostering a sense of trust and respect. - Assist in the development of social skills and coping strategies to improve the overall well-being of students within the school setting. - Manage challenging behaviour in a calm and effective manner, adhering to school policies and practices. Qualifications and Skills: - Previous experience working with secondary-aged students with emotional and behavioural difficulties. - Strong understanding of the difficulties faced by students with emotional and behavioural challenges and an ability to relate to these students. - Excellent interpersonal skills, with the capacity to engage and motivate students. - The ability to remain patient, empathetic, and composed in challenging situations. - Relevant qualifications in Education Support, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field are desirable. - Due to the location of the role, a full driving license is beneficial.
