A leading independent day school for girls aged 4–18 in North London is seeking to appoint a proactive, knowledgeable, and highly organised HR Manager to join their team. The school has a reputation for academic excellence, a supportive working culture, and a strong sense of community.
The Role
The HR Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering effective HR strategies across the school. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive HR support and guidance to staff, ensuring compliance with employment law and safeguarding regulations, and fostering a positive and professional working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the full employee life cycle, including recruitment, induction, appraisal, and exit procedures.
Advise senior leaders and line managers on HR policies, employee relations, and best practice.
Manage payroll administration in liaison with the Finance team.
Maintain accurate HR records and ensure compliance with safer recruitment and safeguarding guidelines.
Lead on staff training, professional development, and wellbeing initiatives.
Monitor HR systems and policies, ensuring they reflect current legislation and school requirements.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have:
Strong knowledge of employment law, HR practice, and safer recruitment.
Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
The ability to work with discretion, diplomacy, and attention to detail.
Previous HR experience within the education sector (desirable but not essential).
