Job Title: Inclusion Base Lead
Inclusion Base Lead (HLTA)
Location: South Gloucestershire
Contract Type: Full-Time | September Start (Earlier Start Available for the Right Candidate)
Pay: From £16.15 per hour
Ready to lead a provision where relationships, inclusion and early intervention sit at the heart of everything you do?
Axcis Education is recruiting an experienced and passionate Inclusion Base Lead (HLTA) to join a welcoming primary school in South Gloucestershire from September.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an accomplished SEND Teaching Assistant, HLTA or Inclusion Practitioner who is ready to take ownership of a developing intervention provision supporting pupils who are struggling to access the mainstream classroom. The school is committed to ensuring that every child receives the right support at the right time, and is investing in a specialist inclusion space designed to help pupils re-engage with learning, build confidence and achieve success.
About the Role
As Inclusion Base Lead, you will take a leading role in the day-to-day running of the school's specialist inclusion provision, supporting primarily EYFS and Key Stage 1 pupils with a range of additional needs and barriers to learning.
Many of the children accessing the provision have emerging SEND needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, communication difficulties, sensory needs and developmental delays. Some pupils may be awaiting assessment or additional support, making early intervention and skilled practice particularly important.
Working closely with the SENDCo, class teachers and senior leaders, you will help devise and implement creative, personalised support plans that enable pupils to successfully engage with education. You will deliver targeted interventions, support emotional regulation, build positive relationships with pupils and families, monitor progress and help shape a provision that genuinely meets the needs of its learners.
The school is looking for somebody who can think beyond traditional classroom support. Whether that means incorporating play-based learning, nurture approaches, outdoor learning, sensory strategies, structured interventions or simply building strong, trusting relationships, you will have the autonomy to use your professional judgement to help children succeed.
About the School
This is a nurturing and inclusive primary school with a strong commitment to early intervention and SEND support. Leaders recognise that some pupils require a more personalised approach in order to thrive and have invested in developing an inclusion provision that bridges the gap between specialist and mainstream support.
Staff work collaboratively, celebrate individual progress and are committed to creating an environment where every child feels safe, valued and understood. The school places a strong emphasis on wellbeing, positive relationships and removing barriers to learning at the earliest possible stage.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will bring substantial experience supporting children with SEND and a genuine passion for inclusive education.
You may currently be working as a HLTA, SEND Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Learning Mentor or Inclusion Practitioner and be ready for your next challenge.
The school would particularly value experience supporting pupils with ASC, SEMH needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviour. Experience delivering interventions, leading small-group provision, implementing behaviour support strategies and working alongside multi-agency professionals would be highly beneficial.
Above all, we're looking for somebody who is proactive, reflective, resilient and relationship-driven. You should be confident working independently, able to inspire confidence in others and committed to helping every child achieve positive outcomes.
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, is essential.
Why Join Axcis Education?
As the UK's leading SEND recruitment specialist, Axcis works with schools that are committed to inclusive practice and high-quality support for children with additional needs.
You'll receive ongoing support from a dedicated SEND consultant, competitive rates of pay and access to long-term opportunities with strong potential for permanent employment.
You'll also benefit from free access to specialist SEND training through our partnership with The National College. This includes CPD-accredited courses covering autism, SEMH, trauma-informed practice, communication and interaction needs, behaviour support, emotional regulation and wider inclusive teaching approaches.
