Axcis Education are working with a well-regarded and expansive SEND school in the centre town of Exeter, Devon. We are in search of an enthusiastic and highly skilled upper Key Stage 2 teacher to join their dedicated team to start ASAP until Christmas, with a strong likelihood of the role becoming permanent for the right candidate.
The school:
The school is a all through SEND school specialising in anxiety. All pupils were once school leavers with large gaps in their education they display high Anxiety as well as Autism, communication difficulties and some SEMH from schooling trauma. All classes are small with 6 - 8 pupils per class. This is a nurturing environment to keep students calm and feeling safe whilst in their education. You need to have clear boundaries with pupils and not be fazed by fruitful language with a good sense of humour o engage with the class. The class is all boys, mixed ages from year 6 - year 8, learning at a lower level.
Responsibilities:
- deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to the varying needs of pupils within the lower Key Stage 2 framework.
- Develop and implement effective strategies to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Collaborate with support staff to enhance the learning experience, ensuring all pupils achieve their full potential.
- Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of pupils, adapting teaching methods to suit individual needs.
- Maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment by upholding strong classroom management skills.
- Build solid relationships with parents, colleagues, and the wider school community, contributing to a cohesive and supportive environment.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, experienced in the UK.
- Proven background in teaching primary or secondary with a strong track record of pupil development.
- Experience working with children with SEND and a thorough understanding of differentiation strategies.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to execute lessons well and manage time effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to inspire and motivate pupils, colleagues, and parents alike.
- Enhanced DBS check on the update service desirable
