The school is seeking a compassionate, motivated Learning leader (teaching assistant) to join its dedicated team in Exmouth. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting Deaf children and young people to achieve their full potential, academically, socially, and emotionally. Working closely with teaching staff, the successful candidate will help remove barriers to learning, deliver targeted interventions, and contribute to creating an inspiring and fully inclusive educational environment. Based in the schools modern and very impressive purpose-built campus, the Learning Leader will be part of a community that is transforming opportunities for Deaf students. The Academy champions a culture of growth, innovation, and belonging. Staff benefit from weekly CPD sessions and are supported to develop their communication skills through funded British Sign Language qualifications. Key Responsibilities The Learning Mentor will: Work collaboratively with teachers in preparing and delivering lessons that meet the needs of all learners. Communicate with pupils in a sensitive, supportive manner, adapting approaches to meet individual communication needs. Promote full inclusion, ensuring Deaf students—and all students—are fully supported in classroom and wider learning activities. Champion the safety and wellbeing of young people in line with the Academy’s safeguarding policies. Contribute to the planning and delivery of Student Support Plans, ensuring interventions are well recorded and effectively implemented. BSL is not desirable as the school will train you up to level 2, however anyone holding a level 1 or 2 BSL have a high chance of being successful. This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday from 8:30 - 3:30.
