I am currently working in partnership with a secondary school in Taunton that are hiring for learning support assistants on a temporary to permanent basis. It is a large school, accessible on public transport routes or there is a large on-site car park. In this role, you will be expected to work across the age groups in different classes and with different students. You will have a 2 week training period which will include a range of online training and shadowing other learning support assistant. After this you will be given a rota with the classes and students you will be supporting. You can be supporting the class teacher, working in small groups or working 121 with students. If you have a specific interest like drama, maths or phycology, the school do their best to place you where your passions lie. You do not need direct experience working in a school setting for this role but, experience in care, working with children or having an educational background would be highly advantageous.
