Location: South Devon (including Teignbridge)
Salary: £21,050 - £25,500 (depending on experience)
Hours: 8:45 AM – 4:45 PM
Position Type: Permanent (with optional paid trial period).
Axcis Education is excited to be working with an independent special school in Teignbridge, who are looking for a dedicated Outreach Education Support Mentor to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties and complex needs.
About the Role:
As an Outreach Education Support Mentor, you will be working with students both at the school site in Teignbridge and across the South Devon region. Your role will involve supporting students in their local community, helping them to access education and develop skills that will help them thrive. You will also be assisting with managing challenging behaviour, offering guidance, and fostering positive relationships with the students.
Key Responsibilities:
-Provide one-to-one or small group support for students with SEMH and complex needs.
-Assist students with their educational, emotional, and social development.
-Work across the community and the school site in Teignbridge.
-Support students to engage in educational activities, both inside and outside of the classroom.
-Help manage challenging behaviour and encourage positive interactions.
Requirements:
-Experience working with children, young people, or adults with SEND needs (e.g., education, support work, health, or care background).
-Experience with complex needs and challenging behaviour is desirable but not essential.
-Ability to drive and commute across the South Devon region (required).
-A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students.
-An understanding of the challenges faced by young people with SEMH.
