Job Title: Outreach Teacher
About the Role Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Outreach Teacher to work with an alternative provision in Exeter. This rewarding role involves teaching secondary-aged students on a 1:1 basis who are currently working below age-related expectations and have gaps in their learning. Students may present with SEMH needs, anxiety, and communication difficulties, and require a nurturing, flexible approach to learning. The successful candidate will teach one student in the morning and another in the afternoon, delivering lessons in the students’ homes. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging lessons in English, Maths, and other core subjects appropriate to each student’s individual learning level. Build positive and supportive relationships with students and their families. Encourage confidence, emotional resilience, and independence in learning. Monitor, assess, and record student progress, providing regular updates and reports. Liaise with the wider support and pastoral teams to ensure a consistent and holistic approach. Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential. Proven experience teaching secondary-aged students, ideally within SEMH or SEND settings. A patient, empathetic, and adaptable teaching style. Excellent communication and organisational skills. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (petrol paid during the working day). Why Work with Axcis Education?
