Job Title: Primary School Teaching Assistant, SEND Hub- Smethwick
We’re looking for an experienced and proactive SEND Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated SEND Hub within a primary school in Smethwick. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism (ASD), speech and language difficulties and challenging behaviours.
The SEND Hub is a nurturing and structured space within the school where children with more complex or additional learning needs receive tailored support. You will work in small groups or 1:1 to help pupils access learning at their own pace, develop their social and emotional skills, and build confidence in a calm and supportive environment.
What You’ll Be Doing:
• Providing personalised, targeted support to pupils with diverse SEND needs in the Hub setting.
• Assisting with learning tasks, sensory activities, and emotional regulation strategies.
• Supporting pupils both inside the Hub and when integrating into mainstream classrooms.
• Implementing EHCP strategies in collaboration with the SENCO and classroom teachers.
• Promoting a positive, consistent, and inclusive environment for every child.
• Using visual aids, communication tools, and structured routines to aid learning and behaviour.
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
• Has solid classroom experience and a strong understanding of primary education.
• Brings proven experience working with children with SEND, particularly autism, SEMH, and communication needs.
• Can build strong, trusting relationships with both pupils and staff.
• Is a team player with excellent communication and a flexible, “can-do” attitude.
Requirements:
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply and cover the cost).
• A minimum of two professional references.
• Work within a supportive, specialist SEND team who value your contribution.

Location: Smethwick
Contract: Full-Time, Ongoing
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Pay: From £89 per day (PAYE)
