Job Title: Primary Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistant – Year 3 Class (1:1 ASC Support and Whole Class Support) Location: Christchurch, Hampshire Start Date: September 2025 Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only (08:30 – 15:30) Salary: Dependent on experience and qualifications A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Christchurch is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025. This full-time role will involve supporting a Year 3 class, with a particular focus on providing 1:1 support for a pupil with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), alongside general class support as needed. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive school community and contribute to the academic and emotional development of pupils at a key stage in their learning journey. Key Responsibilities: Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with ASC, helping them access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom life Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons, offering tailored support where needed to individual pupils or small groups Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages confidence, independence, and positive behaviour Prepare resources and assist with classroom organisation to support daily teaching and learning Monitor pupil progress and share feedback with teaching staff and, where appropriate, parents and carers Support pupils during non-classroom activities, including playtime and lunch breaks Work in line with school behaviour and safeguarding policies, contributing to a safe and positive school culture Engage with ongoing training and staff development activities What We’re Looking For: Previous experience working with children in a school setting, particularly supporting pupils with ASC or additional needs A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils Understanding of the primary curriculum and experience delivering or supporting targeted interventions Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset A relevant qualification such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) is preferred but not essential. school based experience will also be taken into account A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children What the School Offers: A supportive and inclusive working environment Committed leadership and a collaborative staff team Opportunities for training and professional development A rewarding and meaningful role helping children achieve their full potential If you’re passionate about supporting young learners and have experience working with children with additional needs, we welcome your application.
