Job Title: SEMH/ASD Teaching Assistant - Full-time- Higher Education
We are currently seeking a dedicated and empathetic SEMH/ASD Teaching Assistant to join our a vibrant higher education institution located in Staffordshire. The successful candidate will be primarily focused on providing tailored assistance to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). A separate part of the role will be community based. This will involve taking the student out into the community to a variety of their preferred places. The successful candidate must be able to: - Provide one-to-one support to students with SEMH and ASD, facilitating their academic and personal development. - Utilize effective behaviour management techniques to maintain a positive and supportive learning environment. - Act as a liaison between students, academic staff, and support services to ensure a cohesive support structure. - Assist in the development of social skills and independent learning strategies for students. - Monitor and track students' progress, providing regular feedback to both students and staff. Qualifications & Skills: - Experience working with individuals with SEMH and/or ASD within an educational setting. - Level 2 or above qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Psychology, Special Needs Education) is highly desirable. - A clear understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH/ASD and a passion for supporting their educational journey. - Knowledge of safeguarding practices and commitment to student welfare. - Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - A respectful and patient approach to working with students from diverse backgrounds. - Flexibility to adapt to varying needs and educational demands.
