Job Title: SEMH Learning Support Assistant
1:1 SEMH Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School – Islington Full-Time | Immediate Start | 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM Axcis Education is currently seeking a compassionate and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Islington. This full-time role is to start as soon as possible, providing dedicated 1:1 support to boys with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school prides itself on its strong commitment to inclusion and its focus on nurturing the potential of every student. They are looking for a caring professional with experience supporting young people with SEMH needs. Key Responsibilities: Provide consistent 1:1 support to a designated student with SEMH needs. Assist with both academic engagement and emotional regulation. Implement de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviours effectively. Collaborate closely with teachers, the pastoral team, and SEN staff to deliver cohesive support plans. Keep accurate records and contribute to the development of personalised care and support strategies. Requirements: Experience working with young people with SEMH needs, ideally in a secondary school or youth support setting. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships. A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to managing behaviour and emotional challenges. Confidence in applying de-escalation strategies and promoting positive behaviour. Relevant training or qualifications in safeguarding, behaviour management, or youth support (desirable). A valid, enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
