Job Title: SEMH Teacher
Position: SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teacher
Location: Dorking, Surrey
Type: Full-time, Monday?–?Friday, 8:00?am?–?3:30?pm
About the Role
Our school is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teacher to lead and support the social, emotional, and mental health development of pupils aged 5-16. You will work collaboratively with classroom staff, senior leadership and external agencies to create a safe, inclusive environment where every student can thrive academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver a tailored SEMH curriculum aligned with the National Curriculum and safeguarding standards.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group interventions, monitoring progress through robust data collection.
• Lead whole-school initiatives on mental-health awareness, resilience building, and anti-bullying.
• Liaise with parents, carers, counsellors, and external specialists to coordinate support plans.
• Contribute to the development of behaviour policies, risk assessments and pastoral strategies.
• Participate in CPD, staff meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.
Essential Criteria
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching in a mainstream setting.
• Demonstrated expertise in SEMH provision and a strong understanding of child development.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage confidential information and uphold safeguarding responsibilities.
• First Aid (or willingness to obtain) and DBS clearance.
Desirable
• Post-graduate qualification in Special Educational Needs or Psychology.
• Experience working with multi-agency teams.
