Pay: £90–£95 per day
Hours: 08:30 – 16:00, Monday to Friday (term time only)
Are you an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant or SEND specialist TA looking for a rewarding January start in Poole? This outstanding SEND school is seeking a skilled, confident, and compassionate practitioner to join their team and support pupils with SEMH, ASC and ADHD.
This full-time Teaching Assistant role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in emotional and behavioural support, trauma-informed practice, or therapeutic education. You will be working in small classes (8–10 pupils), allowing you to provide personalised support and build positive, lasting relationships.
Key Responsibilities of the SEMH & SEND Teaching Assistant
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH and ASC needs.
Implement positive behaviour strategies and therapeutic interventions.
Build trusted relationships to help pupils regulate emotions and engage in learning.
Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals.
Adapt learning tasks and communication to meet a range of SEND needs.
Track progress and contribute to personalised behaviour and learning plans.
Requirements – What We’re Looking For
Proven experience as an SEMH Teaching Assistant, SEND TA, Behaviour Mentor or similar role.
Strong understanding of SEMH needs, behaviour support and de-escalation techniques.
Calm, resilient and emotionally intelligent approach to challenging behaviour.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Training in Team Teach, MAPA, SEMH support or therapeutic approaches (desirable but not essential).
