We are looking for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in the EN3 area, starting ASAP. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, challenging behaviour, or additional learning needs. The Role As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will: Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEMH needs. Help students manage their emotions and behaviour in a positive and constructive way. Support students to engage with lessons and access the curriculum. Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils. Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the SEN team. Implement individual support and behaviour strategies. Encourage students' confidence, independence and engagement. Assist with maintaining a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is: Experienced working with young people, ideally within a secondary school or specialist setting. Confident supporting students with SEMH and challenging behaviour. Patient, empathetic and consistent in their approach. Resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations. A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills. Passionate about helping young people achieve their potential. Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker or similar role would be highly desirable. Training and relevant qualifications are also welcomed.
