Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
SEMH Teaching Assistant – Specialist School
Location: Torbay, Devon
Pay: £94–£100 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm
Contract: Temp to Perm
Start: ASAP
Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning? We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in the Torbay area, supporting pupils aged 11–16 with SEMH needs.
You will work alongside teachers and support staff, providing encouragement and individualised support to help pupils engage with learning and develop confidence.
The role will involve:
• Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups
• Helping students access classroom activities and learning
• Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional development
• Building positive relationships with pupils
• Helping maintain a calm and supportive environment
The school:
• Supports pupils aged 11–16
• All pupils have EHCPs relating to SEMH needs
• Provides a structured, nurturing specialist environment
We are keen to hear from Teaching Assistants, youth workers, sports coaches, support workers, graduates and those with relevant experience working with young or vulnerable people. Previous school experience is not essential.
