Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant - Special School Plymouth
Axcis Education are working with a special school in Plymouth who are looking for SEN teaching assistants for a January start. Working hours vary but will be between 9.00am and 3.45pm, Monday - Friday, term time only.
You will be required to support the educational, social, and physical needs of pupils including those with severe physical, learning, and complex behavioural difficulties, supporting the curriculum and school through the assistance of the class teacher. You will need to demonstrate perseverance, positive relationships, and attitudes towards pupils with profound, severe, and complex learning needs, staff members and towards parents, governors, and local community.
Duties and responsibilities will include -
• Establish supportive relationships with pupils, encouraging individual development, acceptance, social integration, and development of self esteem
• Support with the safe physical and medical needs of pupils
• Support pupils with challenging emotional and behavioural difficulties
• Assist children in developing knowledge, skills and attitudes as defined by the curriculum, considering the learning support involved to aid the children to learn effectively
• Able to react and deal effectively with challenging or unpredictable behaviours
Experience of supporting individuals with additional needs such as Autism or SEMH would be an advantage. This is temporary post with the possibility of it becoming permanent for the right person.
