Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm, Term Time Only
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Salary: From £92.63 per day
Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist Post-16 SEND college in Bromley, South London. This is an excellent opportunity to support young adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within a well-resourced and inclusive learning environment.
The college supports students with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, physical disabilities, complex learning difficulties, and communication needs. Working closely with teachers and wider support staff, you will help students develop their independence, confidence, life skills, and academic progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEND.
- Assist learners during classroom lessons, practical activities, and vocational sessions.
- Support students during creative and life skills activities, including art, drama, cooking, and community-based learning.
- Encourage independence, communication, social development, and emotional wellbeing.
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement with learning.
- Assist with personal care where required, ensuring dignity, respect, and safeguarding procedures are followed.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals to meet individual learning objectives.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive educational environment.
Applicants should have:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, physical disabilities, or complex learning needs.
- Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Care Assistant, Healthcare Assistant, or in another education, health, or social care setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, flexible, and compassionate approach.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Confidence supporting personal care and promoting independent living skills.
- A genuine commitment to helping young people achieve positive outcomes.
