Job Title: SEND Learning Support Assistant
Axcis Education are working closely with a highly reputable SEND school based in South Leeds. The school are looking for a number of SEND Teaching Assistants on a long-term basis starting as soon as possible..
The school caters for a diverse group of learners aged 2 to 19 with range of needs, including moderate to severe learning difficulties, Autism, and social, emotional and mental health needs. The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum, enabling individuals to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities:
You will be working with a class of 7 males with complex needs, all of the students have a diagnosis of Autism, Downs Syndrome and Complex Communication Needs. Some of the students have had adverse life experiences, and often display challenging behaviour.
Requirements:
Experience of working with children/adults with complex needs, SLD, Autism, SEMH
Experience of implementing Speech & Language and Occupational Therapy Programmes
Knowledge of the Social Communication, Emotional Regulation and Transactional Support Curriculum
A positive and enthusiastic attitude towards supporting the growth and development of students.
Knowledge of Intensive Interaction
Staff must be confident managing challenging situations, whilst remaining calm and consistent in their approach.
Staff must be patient and allow students time to process instructions
A team player who is able to effectively communicate with the wider staff team
