Job Title: SEND Learning Support Assistant
We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist post-16 college for a dedicated and resilient SEND Learning Support Assistant to support young people with complex needs, including PMLD and severe learning disabilities.
This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm, offering a rewarding opportunity to work within a specialist environment where no two days are the same. Students access a broad and varied curriculum, ranging from academic subjects through to practical and vocational courses, with a strong focus on developing independence, communication and life skills.
As a SEND LSA, you will provide individualised support both in and outside the classroom, helping students access their learning and participate fully in college life. The role will also involve personal care, so you must be comfortable supporting students with intimate care needs while promoting their dignity, independence and wellbeing.
Some students participate in activities involving the college’s onsite farm and animal care provision, so you must be comfortable working around farm animals and happy to support students with these activities.
The role can involve responding to incredibly challenging behaviour, including behaviours that may present a significant risk to themselves or others. We are therefore looking for someone who is calm, confident and emotionally resilient, with the ability to remain professional and composed in difficult situations and follow agreed behaviour and safeguarding procedures.
Previous experience supporting young people or adults with complex SEND, PMLD, severe learning disabilities or challenging behaviour is highly desirable. Most importantly, you will need patience, compassion, resilience and a genuine commitment to helping young people achieve their potential.
If you are looking for a challenging but hugely rewarding SEND role where you can make a genuine difference to young people’s lives, we would love to hear from you.

If you are interested, then please click on the apply button and contact Sam Higham on 0207 580 2956 | Ext: 1038.

If you are not interested in this role but know someone else who might be, don't forget that we offer £50 in shopping vouchers if you refer a friend to us and we place them in the job. For more details, contact your local Axcis office.

This is a temporary position, unless stated otherwise.

Axcis is an equal opportunities employer and as such we do not discriminate based on age, gender, disability, race or any other equal opportunities criteria.

The company is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
