Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive team in Bookham. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, personalised support to pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), working closely with class teachers to promote academic progress, independence and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering differentiated lessons for pupils with SEND.
• Provide one-to-one or small-group support, implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies.
• Facilitate the use of assistive technology and adaptive resources.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, communicating observations to teachers and parents.
• Foster a safe, respectful and stimulating classroom environment.
• Contribute to team meetings, safeguarding duties and professional development activities.
Required Qualifications & Experience
• Level 2 (or higher) Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in a Secondary School setting, or equivalent.
• Experience working with children who have SEND, preferably in a mainstream secondary school.
• Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding policies.
• First Aid and DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain).
