Job Title: SEND Teacher
SEND Teacher – Special School – Havering
£180–£250 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | ASAP Start | Harold Hill, Romford
Axcis Education is recruiting a positive, adaptable and enthusiastic SEND Teacher to join a specialist school in Havering, working with pupils who have a range of additional and complex learning needs.
This is a full-time, long-term role starting as soon as possible. The school is ideally looking for someone who has previous experience working within a special school or specialist SEND setting, although this is not essential where the teacher has strong classroom practice, the right attitude and a genuine interest in SEND.
The most important thing is finding a teacher with a positive, can-do approach who is willing to get involved, work closely with support staff and adapt learning around the individual pupils in front of them.
About the Role
- Teaching pupils within a specialist SEND school
- Planning and delivering highly differentiated and engaging lessons
- Adapting teaching around individual EHCPs, communication needs and learning levels
- Supporting pupils who may be working significantly below age-related expectations
- Working closely with Teaching Assistants and wider SEND professionals
- Helping pupils develop communication, independence and confidence
- Using practical, creative and sensory approaches where appropriate
- Monitoring progress across both academic and developmental targets
- Creating a positive and structured classroom environment
About You
We would particularly like to hear from teachers who:
- Hold QTS
- Have previous experience working within a special school or SEND setting – highly desirable but not essential
- Have a genuine interest in working with pupils with additional needs
- Are confident adapting lessons to suit a wide range of abilities
- Have a positive, flexible and can-do attitude
- Are comfortable working closely with and directing Teaching Assistants
- Can build strong relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Are resilient, proactive and willing to get involved across the wider school
- Can commit to a full-time, long-term role starting ASAP
The School & Location
The role is based within a special school in Harold Hill, Romford, supporting pupils aged 2–19. The setting is rated Good by Ofsted and places a strong emphasis on helping pupils make progress academically, socially and personally. The school is accessible from Romford, Harold Wood, Hornchurch, Dagenham and surrounding Essex/East London areas, making it a strong option for teachers based across Havering and the surrounding boroughs.
