Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary (Plymouth)
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support primary-aged students in a specialist school setting in Plymouth. This role involves working closely with children with Autism, communication difficulties, and challenging behaviour, helping them to access learning in a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs
• Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs)
• Support students with communication and social development
• Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour in a calm and positive manner
• Work collaboratively with teachers and wider support staff
Requirements:
• Experience working with children with SEND, particularly Autism and behavioural needs
• A resilient, flexible, and patient approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine passion for supporting children’s development and wellbeing
