Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities) Teaching Assistant to support our inclusive classroom environment in Walton, Surrey. Working closely with the classroom teacher, you will help deliver differentiated instruction and ensure that pupils with additional needs achieve their full potential in a safe, supportive setting.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEND, adapting resources and strategies as directed.
• Assist the teacher in planning and implementing individualised education plans (IEPs).
• Monitor student progress, record observations, and communicate insights to the teacher and senior staff.
• Foster positive behaviour management, promoting independence and social interaction.
• Ensure classroom safety, health, and wellbeing standards are consistently met.
• Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and parent-teacher conferences as required.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics; Level?2 (or above) in a relevant SEND qualification (e.g., CACHE Level?2/3).
• Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND in a mainstream or specialist setting.
• Strong understanding of inclusive teaching strategies and statutory frameworks (e.g., SEND Code of Practice).
• Excellent communication, empathy, and teamwork skills.
Desirable Attributes
• First-Aid or Safeguarding certification.
• Experience with autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, or specific learning difficulties.
