Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Position: SEND Teaching Assistant Location: Staines, Middlesex Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 08:00?–?15:30 Salary: Paid to scale (National PAYE rates) Role Overview We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support the inclusive learning environment of our primary school. Working closely with the class teacher and SENCo, you will help deliver tailored educational experiences for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring their academic, social and emotional development. Key Responsibilities • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to SEND pupils, reinforcing lesson objectives and adapting resources as required. • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor progress, recording observations for review meetings. • Assist the teacher in preparing differentiated materials and creating a safe, stimulating classroom atmosphere. • Promote independence and positive behaviour through consistent reinforcement of agreed strategies. • Collaborate with parents, external therapists and the SENCo to coordinate support services. • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions and safeguarding duties as mandated. Essential Requirements • Level 2/3 Diploma or equivalent in Special Educational Needs, or relevant experience. • Experience working with children who have a range of SEND profiles (e.g., ASD, ADHD, dyslexia). • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build rapport with pupils, families and colleagues. • Commitment to safeguarding, child protection and inclusive practice. • DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain). Desirable • First Aid certification. • Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current intervention strategies.
