Position: SEND Teaching Assistant – PMLD Location: Walton, Surrey Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 08:00?–?15:30 Salary: Paid to scale (dependent on experience and qualifications) About the Role We are seeking a compassionate, reliable Teaching Assistant to support a small cohort of children with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) within a vibrant SEND setting. Working closely with the classroom teacher, you will help deliver a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes each child’s development and wellbeing. Key Responsibilities • Provide one-to-one and small-group assistance during lessons, activities, and personal care routines. • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and adapt resources to meet diverse needs. • Support the teacher in preparing and maintaining a structured, inclusive learning environment. • Monitor and record observations of pupil progress, reporting to the teacher and senior staff. • Assist with feeding, toileting, medication administration, and mobility support as required. • Promote positive social interaction and encourage communication using assistive technologies. • Ensure health and safety, infection-control, and safeguarding procedures are rigorously followed. Essential Qualifications & Experience • Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) – preferred. • Experience working with children with severe/profound disabilities in a school or care setting. • Knowledge of PMLD strategies, sensory integration, and assistive communication tools. • Excellent interpersonal skills, patience, and a proactive attitude. • Current DBS check and relevant safeguarding training.
