Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Are you a caring, patient and enthusiastic individual looking for a rewarding role supporting children and young people with special educational needs? A specialist school in Portsmouth is looking for a committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, temporary-to-permanent basis.
The school provides a supportive and nurturing environment for children and young people aged 5 to 16 who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Pupils have a range of needs, including autism, communication and interaction difficulties, as well as complex learning profiles. You will be part of a dedicated team working to ensure every pupil feels supported, valued and able to make progress.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide individual and small-group support, helping pupils engage with their learning, develop their communication and social skills, and build greater independence. The role will also involve supporting pupils with personal care, so it is important that you are comfortable carrying out these responsibilities sensitively and respectfully.
The position is Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, offering excellent work-life balance alongside the opportunity to make a genuine difference every day. The role will initially be temporary, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
Experience working with children or young people with SEND, autism or complex needs would be advantageous, but the school is also keen to hear from individuals who have the right attitude, patience and willingness to learn. Above all, you should be compassionate, reliable and passionate about helping children overcome barriers and achieve their potential.
If you are looking for a fulfilling opportunity within a specialist school and would enjoy being part of a supportive team where no two days are the same, this could be the perfect role for you.

If you are interested, then please click on the apply button and contact Sam Higham on 0207 580 2956 | Ext: 1038.

If you are not interested in this role but know someone else who might be, don't forget that we offer £50 in shopping vouchers if you refer a friend to us and we place them in the job. For more details, contact your local Axcis office.

This is a temporary position, unless stated otherwise.

Axcis is an equal opportunities employer and as such we do not discriminate based on age, gender, disability, race or any other equal opportunities criteria.

The company is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
