**Job Title:** Special Needs Classroom Assistant **Location:** Rochdale, Lancashire **Job Description:** We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Classroom Assistant to join our team at a reputable SEND school in Rochdale, Lancashire. The successful candidate will have the privilege of working with students who have high needs, providing them with educational support and personal care that is tailored to their individual requirements. **Key Responsibilities:** - Assist in the classroom under the direction of the lead teacher, facilitating the learning experience for special needs students. - Support students with a variety of educational activities, ensuring materials and resources are adapted to meet their learning needs. - Provide personal care to students as required, with respect and sensitivity to their dignity. - Collaborate with teaching staff and other support staff to develop education plans and behavioural strategies. - Employ effective behaviour management techniques to maintain a safe and nurturing classroom environment. - Engage in proactive communication with parents, teachers, and therapists to promote consistent support for students. - Participate in team meetings and professional development sessions to stay up-to-date with best practices in special education. **Essential Requirements:** - Proven experience working within SEND schools, specifically with students with high needs. - A strong, assertive personality with the mental fortitude to handle the inherent challenges of the role. - Must be proactive and willing to get involved in all aspects of classroom life from the outset, thriving in a fast-paced environment. - An up-to-date DBS check registered with the update service. - Available for a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 8.30 AM - 3.30 PM.
