Job Title: Special School Teaching Assistant
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a supportive special school in Haringey. The school caters for children with a range of need including, ASD, SEMH, Complex Needs, Challenging Behaviour. Axcis is seeking a compassionate TA to provide tailored 1:1 support across a small class of around 8 students.
Role Overview:
You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support pupils’ emotional well-being and learning. Your role involves providing 1:1 and small group interventions, using de-escalation techniques, and fostering a calm, structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Offer personalised 1:1 support across a class of around 8 students with SEMH needs.
Assist the teacher in delivering engaging lessons tailored to individual learning styles.
Implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive social and emotional development.
Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals to support student progress.
Requirements:
Experience working with children with SEMH, ideally in a special school setting.
A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach.
Strong communication skills to build positive relationships with students and staff.
Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA) and SEMH training are desirable.
