About the Role
A highly specialised SEND provision in Central/North London is seeking an experienced and committed Qualified Teacher (QTS) to join their team from September.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work with pupils with a range of special educational needs, delivering a highly personalised curriculum that supports both academic progress and essential life skills. The role requires a teacher who is adaptable, nurturing, and confident working with students with complex profiles.
About the School
This is a small, specialist setting supporting pupils aged 7–16 who require additional support beyond mainstream education. The school caters for students with a range of needs, including:
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
Many pupils have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and some may present with behaviours linked to anxiety, trauma, or barriers to learning.
The school prides itself on its therapeutic and nurturing approach, combining structured learning with emotional and behavioural support. Class sizes are small, allowing for a high level of individual attention, and staff work closely with a range of professionals including therapists, SEN specialists, and pastoral teams.
The curriculum is tailored to meet individual needs, with a strong emphasis on communication, emotional regulation, functional skills, and preparation for reintegration or transition into further education.
Leadership has created a supportive and collaborative environment, where staff are well-supported and encouraged to develop their SEND expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning and delivering differentiated lessons to meet a wide range of SEND needs
Creating and implementing individualised learning plans in line with EHCP targets
Supporting students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
Using a range of strategies to support communication and engagement
Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and external professionals
Maintaining a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
Ideal Candidate:
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience working within a SEND or alternative provision setting
Strong understanding of ASC, SEMH, and communication needs
Confident managing behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
Patient, resilient, and committed to inclusive education
Team player with excellent communication skills
